Financial Controller – AIMS Financial Group (AIMS)

The Group is currently experiencing a period of exciting growth in a number of areas and seeks a motivated and professional Financial Controller to assist with maximising these growth plans. This is the lead finance position within the Group, with the potential for advancement to CFO in the medium term.

Working closely with the CEO and Department Heads, the candidate will be working as part of a small and dynamic team and will oversee the accounting, banking and treasury functions of the Group while also providing financial management, forecasting, business planning and fund raising support.

The Key Duties of the role will include:

  • Overseeing the day to day accounting and reporting functions for the Group;
  • Managing the annual and periodic external audit and compliance reviews;
  • Ensuring that the cash-flow, treasury and general working capital requirements are monitored and maintained;
  • Preparation of annual financial statements in conjunction with the finance team;
  • Providing quality and value added monthly and ad hoc management reports to the CEO and Department Heads;
  • Managing relationships with banks, financers and external professional entities.
  • Assisting the CEO and Department Heads with business planning, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Providing support to the Funds Management Department with regards to roadshows, information memoranda and general capital raising activities.
  • Managing the technical and reporting requirements of a Listed Entity.

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following experience and attributes:

  • A strong understanding of the financial services sector in Australia, ideally with a background in funds management, stockbroking or investment banking;
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to work closely with senior executives with regards to the financial and business aspects of each division.
  • Ability to propose practical solutions based on sound analytical thinking;
  • Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements and dealing with tight deadlines regarding audit, reporting and compliance; and
  • Proven stakeholder relationship management, both internal and external.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in senior finance positions.
  • This role will appeal to someone with a desire to develop their career in a dynamic and varied environment. An ability to work in a high performing team, to add value and to work across multiple internal business units will be required. A competitive salary to reflect the seniority and importance of the role will be offered. CA / CPA qualifications are required, and Big 4 experience will be a significant advantage.
  • Chinese language skill is preferable but not essential.
